If it were me, I'd sell some else's kidney and buy a sealskin sporran with a silver (not silver plated) cantle and view it as an investment. The $160 sporran I bought in 1970 would now cost over a grand to replace.

I'm with you. I have one with a silver (not silver plated) cantle and mink. I don't want to know what it would cost to replace it. I know some are big fans of the full mask sporrans, and while I don't dislike them, I much prefer the silver cantle and fur look for formal wear. I think the full mask looks better for less dressy occasions.

Well, there's the small problem of it being illegal to import sealskin to the U.S.

It's also illegal to sell some else's kidney, but I wouldn't let a little detail like that stop from getting the kind of sporran I really wanted. Truckloads of people get smuggled into the United States everyday, or so it seems. I'm sure sporran smuggling would pose little or no challenge to a determined gentleman.

I agree. A cirrhotic liver is enlarged and orange, if I remember my college biology class. We dissected a piper.

Old Thread Come Back
I had an urge to wear my mink sporran this Sunday morning.
So I consulted this Thread with Matt's brilliant demonstration and thought it would be nice to bring it back to daylight for sharing.
I am wearing my mink sporran even though it would be an evening thing to do. I just missed it so much ... and it feels great to have it around the house.
Best,
Robert

Agreed, with one exception. Someone who breaks the law for no better reason than his own whim is no gentleman.

Speak for yourself, sir. I take offense at what you imply.
