Nice. I get a kick out of some people's curiousity sometimes. People will approach you and ask "Hey nice kilt, what tartan are ye wearing?" And most people I could probably tell them whatever I wanted and they wouldn't know the difference. It's cool that they are interested and comfortable enough to come and speak to me, but I get the feeling sometimes that they ask just to see if you're wearing the one and only tartan they have ever really heard of. Great story though, thanks for sharing!

The only one I can think of is if you claimed a Royal Stewart when it wasn't as that seems to be the most universally known.
I feel devilish enough sometime to give one an invented name just for my own amusement when somebody asks...

The tartan question does pop up once in a while... As soon as I answer with Irish National, or American Heritage, or other generic, interest measuredly drops. If I answer with a clan name, I can count on a bit of lecture on clan history, of some kind, or another, sort of, and very likely, very made up.
