Howdy from Columbus! I have kilts from Sportkilt, Stillwater, and Frugal Corner. For a starter kilt, I highly recommend Stillwater.
Where in Ohio are you? We try to have a kilt night in the Columbus area about once a month or so.

hello and a warm from snowy Boston, Massachusetts.
For the beginning kilt, try USA Kilts, Stillwater kilts, Sport Kilt. All three have nice lower priced beginning kilts. After wearing a beginning kilt, the urge will have you saving for one of the Semi-traditional, or Traditional kilts that are offered by most of the advertisers on this site. My own experience is with a semi-trad from Stillwater as being reasonable in price and reasonable in public (see avatar). I have a Stillwater thrifty that is my around the house kilt. Jerry's customer service is great and order turn around is fast. I am in jones mode (aka awaiting) a USA Kilts Semi Traditional. This is a bit more money, but well worth it as it is a custom made garment from Rocky & Kelly. Again, customer service is great, as Rocky replies to emails around the clock. (He never sleeps).
Welcome to Ye Rabble - enjoy being kilted!
Steve

Welcome!
I think everyone has said what I would say. But I'll say it anyway.
Sport Kilt has some decent looking kilts at affordable prices. I've used a couple for highland games for several years, and just got a new Works kilt from them in the Irish Revenge tartan for St. Pats, pub crawling, concert going and general all around rabble rousing.
I haven't gotten a USAK yet but it is on my short list.
