			Basic Algebra

If, like some, you are on a tight budget then your best investment is a black Argyll jacket and two black waistcoats-- one 3 button (like those worn with a PC) and the other a standard six button affair.
 Six-button waistcoat + Argyll, & four-in-hand tie = day wear/dressy evening wear = suit and tie.
Three-button waistcoat + Argyll & bow tie = formal evening wear = tuxedo.

So there you have it, the basic formula for being well-dressed on a budget:

 [1(Argyll Jacket) + 2(waistcoats)] - (white socks) = 1 Well Dressed Gentleman.

                                                #32

<< ...He was selling them for $75.00... >>
That's outrageous. I paid the equivalent of $15.

The only scrunch tie I've seen here was on a bridegroom from Edinburgh. He and his bride came to Memphis from Scotland to be wed at the Graceland Wedding Chapel.

Actually it's a class act - nothing like the Jungle Room.

In France formal dress codes are yet different. Some just won't take any chance and will want to stick with what is traditionaly accepted as formal (P.C., jabot, etc.), while others will want to create something new and original, BUT inspired from what they can find in Scottish shops.I guess it's more a matter of taste than conformity.

That's a wonderful idea. I have not seen the formal waistcoat listed for sale apart from a PC, though. Any pointers?

Some of the budget formal-wear outfits have a "backless" one like the white pique vest... I'm considering making a full-back version, using a suit vest and a white one for a hybrid pattern.

That looks like a regular cravat. A scrunchie has knot that appears... well it looks like it was 'scrunched up'. Bridegroom in this photo is wearing one.
