The Kilt Pin, A Catching Problem

As I find myself wearing a kilt more and more, I am discovering an unexpected problem. From time to time, my kilt pins catch on something! This seems to happen with different pins and kilts. As one can imagine, when it happens, it is rough on the pin and does not do the kilt much good either !
Have others had this experience? (or is really just ME?)

I had to get used to the kilt pin being there when I smooth over my apron. The same goes for if I brush off something from the apron. It could probably do a lot of dammage if you catch it with the edge of your hand.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I have had that problem, it seems to be worse when standing up from a sitting position. Now I am very careful in any kind of tight spot to ensure that the pin doesn't "snag" something.
It hasn't happened to me, but I imagine that it might catch your lady's dress while dancing--that could be bad.

Actualy hasn't happened to me. Perhaps try putting some curviture in your pin so to make less snag prone.

I had the same problem and put a small tear in the apron of one (fortunately it was repaired by a reweaver) Since then I have converted all of my kilt pins to magnetic closures using rare earth magnets. works like a charm and the worse that happens is the kilt pin slides off.

It happens for me mostly when I'm at the grocery store carrying one of those big plastic hand baskets. If I carry the basket in my right hand I have to be careful to hold it well to the side of me so it doesn't catch the kilt pin.
In general, though, I don't usually have too much trouble with catching the kilt pin.

 Andrew.
