It DOES offend me, but in varring degrees. I would never do that to someone else and would not want or expect anyone to do it to me.
Situations:
If it's someone I KNOW and I KNOW they're just lifting 2 or 3 inches to get a reaction from me, that's fine. I'll stop them, but they're just kidding, so I won't cry about it.
If I'm in a bar and it's a "drunk chick", I'm not HAPPY about it (nor would Kelly be), but I will gently swat her hand away and tell her to knock it off. If it's a drunk GUY, I will swat his hand away and question his motives... that usually embarasses them thoroughly.
If it's in a "non alcohol" related daily situation, I'll give the person a bit of a glare and maybe a talking to... THAT is COMPLETELY unaceptable. Depending on how sour a mood I'm in, I could really embarrass them by asking for a police officer to file a complaint... but they'd reALLY have to tick me off for that response.
Normal reaction is somewhere around the middle... swat the hand, tell them to knock it off and glare a bit. They need to know what they're doing is wrong and need to feel SOME shame in order to think about it before doing it again to someone else.
Side note: for 25 responses to the poll so far, I'm surprised that we only have 2 posts explaining why. Come on guys... give your reasoning and help him on his report!
