I was getting hit on last night- with my wife present- on two different occasions. One was a blond at Disney On Ice (took the kids) and the other was a smokin' hot redhead at Bennigan's. Yes, the power of the kilt...
Onto the subject of black men vs black women and the attitudes I have encountered- Yes, black women seem to be very open minded about it. The men seem to have a serious chip on their shoulders (in general- not all by any means!) towards any thing that challenges their view of what is normal. It seems to me that there is a very regimented ideal of masculinity in their subculture. IN most cases once I explain to them what it is and what it means, they seem to be OK with it, especially when I bring up the fact that it's my way of expressing my own cultural pride. It seems to put it more into context or something for the ones who don't know what it is. That being said, the black guys I work with think that it's awesome the pride I express in my legacy. So this statement is more a general observation than anything else. And truth be told, I have more problems with one white guy than than I do with every black guy I work with combined!
