My goodness, but this list is filled with people with the most amazing information. Thanks MoR, I did not know that. I too grew up on Dragnet. I think it is where I get my love of the 'roman policier' from...that and reading Agatha Christie at 12.

I knew that about Jack Webb, and if LA was not so polluted, crowded, etc., I would go back and do what I started some twenty plus years ago.

I took the LAPD’s written exam, passed, and did well on the oral boards, scored an 85, but I did not speak a second language, and had no college. That Saturday morning I was heading to the LASO academy to test, got lost and ended up going to Dodger stadium and onto the LAPD academy where I knew they tested every Saturday, I sometimes wonder where I would be now had I not gotten lost.
