It may help, my RKilts Tasmanian Devil sporran is a soft front, sides and back. More flexible, more forgiving, softer bounce running for the bus.

Rex has sporran ambivalence, so here's his plan...

Have on hand a variety of sporrans for any occasion and to alleviate boredom, but:
    At home: no sporran.
    Going out: sporran.
At the homes of close friends: sporran comes off and gets hung on the back of chair or tossed on the coat bed.
At the homes of friends and colleagues for dinner or cocktail parties: sporran stays on.

    Regards,
    Rex.

I usually wear a military surplus sporran that is very simple and does not draw attention. We're talking plain here.

That's a good option for day wear; serves the purpose (gives you a place to stash your stuff), and looks neat but doesn't draw any undue attention. Probably why the regiments resorted to them . . . aside from the fact that they're cheap. Here's what mine looks like, and I can fix you up with one if you need me to.

Finally, it's very nice to have something kind of heavy to drop down between the legs to preserve one's . . . uh, modesty. I find it very handy to use the sporran as a visual block when sitting. Don't want to end up like the poor idiot seen next to the queen airing it all out. (Reckon he ever got another promotion?)

As rise in the ranks ? I believe the poor fella didn't actually display anything, until the doctored photos.

Excuse the hyperbole. I was joking of course.

You're right, but even the untouched photo could have used some sporran weights to add some modesty to life.

Some of us need more weight than others.

I have a picture over in the gallery right at the moment of me without a sporran... I'm also holding a mattock and wearing sandals.

    Sporrans rule!
I have very few pocketed kilts. 1 Freedom Kilt, 1 Utilikilt, 1 Amerikilt. All the rest are without pockets. I have never used the pockets on the kilts that have them. The sporran resides preloaded with change holder, flat wallet, keys, car fob, mobile phone, etc, on my dresser along with flashes and sgian dubh. When I leave the house, I strap on the sporran, flashes, sgian dubh, and go. If I am going to be on the road for a long drive, the sporran comes off and sits beside me. Whenever I am where the public might see me the sporran is on front and center as it completes the kilt. The few times I tried being out without the sporran, I got weird looks from passers by. Whenever I kit up in "traditional" style I get many compliments on the kilt and on my appearance in general. For day use I have a very plain sporran and strap, and sits just barely below the belt buckle, far above my dangly things. The kilt pin, and the automatic gentle chop function that is second nature after the pleat sweep when sitting provides for all the modesty that I need.
The sporran not only carries my stuff, but is a part of how I wear the kilt with respect to its Scot heritage. I learned much of this from my host family while I was an exchange student in Scotland. I thank them for it when I kit up.

I don't want to begin with this. I just want to know how to make it stop.
Hey! Don't be dragging me into this.

Yikes Chase, ask for an opinion....!!

I'm with you. I wear sporrans, but I prefer to not wear them.

Main thing is NEVER buy a sporran without insisting the seller tell you the true measurements. I have no clue how so many sporran sellers get away with selling sporrans without giving their measurements. Which is why I resold my Buzz Kidder Sporrans...I couldn't get my ham hands into the ones I bought on line and they didn't hold much.

I do like the nightstalker and have the original nylon which I replaced with black and brown leather versions. I have my two precious Freelanders which I wear for "dress" (remember I'm in the boonies here), and I have my black and brown NativEarth large 9x9" sporran/pouches for when I need to carry a lot. Oh yeah, and one of the brown ones that you drop the nail through the front to keep it closed and my custom hair on buffalo sporran from Miss April's Carpetbags.

But maybe its because I sit so much for a living at the office and on the long drives to civilization that I much prefer a vest, jean jacket, or bomber jacket to hold my "stuff."
