    I woke up this morning thinking that I should replace the chains on the sporran straps for my brown sporran with braided leather cord. I could makethat myself... Almost like leather chains...
    I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

    And don't forget that cheap, rough chains can be replaced with a leash or choke collar chain from a good pet store. The links are usually welded shut and the rough edges ground down before they are chromed, so they are no more damaging (possibly less) than a leather strap would be.
