Quoting
When quoting a previous post, may I suggest that we only include the relevant portion of that post? Readers can most likely still see the message you are quoting on the same screen, and can read it again if they wish.
I believe that this is especially important if links to pictures are in the post that you are quoting. Sometimes the same picture appears multiple times on the same screen of the same thread.
Feel free to tell me to pull my head in if you think I’m talking out of turn!

Good suggestion! I'll try to follow your lead in replying with a quote.

I kind of have to guess if my picture has been included in a post quoting my post with a picture in it, but I usually go back and remove the picture from my post if it's in the other post so it isn't doubled.

Quoting
I tend to agree. I haven't figured out the quote thingy on the site yet. I was winding up with the whole post being in the quote, so I gave up on it and have gone to retyping the words from the post that are relevant.

First you click on the <QUOTE> button at the bottom of the post that you want to quote. Then you have something that looks like this.....
PHP Code:
[QUOTE=SteveB;520628]

Make sure you keep the bits at the begining and the end (in the square brackets), and then you edit out the bits that you don't need. You then end up with something like this....
PHP Code:
[QUOTE=SteveB;520628]
I haven't figured out the quote thingy on the site yet.
[/QUOTE]
Then you add your own comments before the very first square bracket (or after the very last square bracket). And you end up with something like this post of mine!

If you want to quote multiple posts, you can simply click the icon, next to the Quote button in each post you want to quote.
Once you have selected all the posts you want to quote, then click on the button to Reply to the thread and it will grab each of the selected posts. You can then edit each quoted post to include only the bits you want.

Thanks for making that point, greenguzzi. It makes total sense to me. And thanks for the multiple quote thing, Mike1; I never knew how that was done.

Thanks guys, that's the best explaination I've seen...I'm one of those quote confused kilties too.
Don't seem to miss it.
It would be WONDERFUL if folks didn't quote the pictures as mentioned...it really really really jams up us remote dial up folks...takes forever to download and just isn't necessary.
Even worse if its one of those huge photos sizes. Ever notice that the kilties that post the huge pics also seem to post a lot of them? Suppose the high speed guys don't notice...but us dial up folks sure do.
Would guess the site would be happy without the repeat photo quotes and the huge size pics too.

I can generally agree with this except perhaps when there are multiple pictures. If one wants to comment on a single picture out of many, it is easier to include that picture than to attempt to describe which one you're refering to.
Sometimes this does result in the same picture appearing many times, even on the same page, but a lot of times the thread is multiple pages long and you wish to refer to something in an earlier page.
I would certainly agree that a person doesn't need to quote several pictures when you only wish to comment on one.
