Wow! That's spectacular. You have an advantage over the rest of us with your own in house sporran-maker/kilt-maker! It's apparent that she encourages you in your addiction.

The "problem" is... kiltmaking is becoming an addiction for Chrystel. She's really into the feeling of the fabric,11oz, 13-14oz, 16oz... worsted wool, poly-wool... the intricacies of tartans, their lines... the challenge of building them into decent kilts. She's out there trying to convert our friends, for the pleasure (the craving) of getting more and more fabric in the mailbox.

She's doing great work! I especially like the idea of taking an old coat like that and working it into something new.

    Fantastic!

It's spectacular! And you know what I love most about it? That your sweetie made it for you from a relative's mink coat! Talk about really feeling a connection to something so wonderful!

I've often thought about buying old fur stoles and coats/capelets from antique shops that obviously won't get any more use in their current state and creating a sporran from it.

Thanks for posting photos. I enjoy seeing her work!

You're a lucky guy. I hope you appreciate the amazing woman you have there.

If she needs another "outlet" for her creative abilities (read: enabler) I could probably be persuaded to send her my address and measurements...

Wowsa! Thats beautiful. That makes all my work look second rate. Where did she pick up the cantle and bells? I have seen a site but they required you to order a minimum number that was more than I would need.

    Beautiful Sporran!

It sounds as though you and your wife have a great relationship and know how to make each other happy without having to be asked or prompted.
    That is truly a blessing.
    My best to you both!

Yes cantles and bells ARE whachoumaysay expensive.
I found a solution in purchasing unexpensive sporrans on Ebay. It's cheaper just to keep the cantle and bells... and throw away the rest ! Check this link :

Thanks. I had planned to do that but I didnt know if you found a simpler solution. I will have to make myself a dress sporran after I complete my black rob roy and a newly comissioned number.
