Your friend was born to wear a kilt. There are a couple of threads about the Scottish Jews and their close affiliation to the Gordon tartan. There are so many tartans he can wear, service tartans, California, Gordon. Hey if he enjoys maple syrup on his back bacon - Maple leaf. If he doesn't like maple syrup or back bacon - Maple Leaf. He wears it well that the only prerequisite, tell him this is from another non-Scottish kilt wearer (and English Gypsy* at that ).

How great that you had enough extras of the right size to deck him out for the evening. Certainly a great way to be introduced to kilt wearing without the worry of being the only one, or the expense of ownership. Good job

Thanks guys - He knows about the Gordon tartan 'cause I told him. And the shirts are part of an annual gathering that really doesn't need any more publicity, or bragging - that's not what we are about.

As to the askew part - that is probably booze induced..... it was a long day

I dressed him, and instructed him - and only forgot to tell him about sweaping the pleats. Watching him sit down was a hoot!

So James since you have introduced him to the addiction does that make you an enabler?

You & your friend look sharp. Now that he has tried it on & knows the comfort I'll bet he becomes a regular wearer.
