I wore my kilt while touring Nova Scotia and PEI a few years ago. The only negative reaction was from the owner of a German restaurant in Brunswick (in between No Sco and PEI). He was wearing his liederhosen and upon seeing me in my kilt, he said " are you taking the piß out of me?".
