What is your favorite size needles?
What is your favorite size yarn?
What is your favorite type of yarn?
Do you prefer circular or double pointed?
What is the make of your favorite needle?
Where do you get your yarn?
How long have your been knitting?
Do you use the English or Continental Style of knitting?
( For non-knitters English or Continental or different way to hold the yarn that is to be knit.)
Do you would you knit hose for others (X-Markers)?
Size needles - 0 to 2 US - depends on the pattern and materials
Yarn Size - fingering to DK (though I've knit winter hiking socks up to worsted weight)
Yarn type - wool or wool blend. Currently there are a pair of hand dyed merino 100% wool socks on the needles - lush. I've also used bamboo, silk, alpaca, cotton, soy. Lots of cool sock yarns on the market right now.
Needle type - DPNs in sets of five (though I've done two circs and liked the technique). On the 'try this list' - magic loop and two at a time on two circs.
Favoite needle - these Susan Bates ones
Favorite Yarn Source Local The Yarn Barn in Lawrence OnlineThe Loopy Ewe
How long knitting - since I was about 6. So 45 years or so
English or Continental - both when doing colorwork, English when knitting in a single color.
Other - classic cuff down - all types of heels and toes. I'm a huge Nancy Bush fan, btw. I've done a half dozen or so pairs of toe ups, and short row heels and toes certainly have their place.
Do you take commissions - yes. I've knit shop samples and have knit on commission at several points in my life, including proofing patterns for knitwear designers. That having been said, I don't want knitting to become a 'job'. But you'll have to get in line behind BeserkBishop - he asked first.
I agree with String that I like to mix it up, try new things, new techniques. It's hard enough to knit two of the same sock!
