    Got a new kilt

Actually - it's an old kilt that I won off ebay. (I'm sorry if someone else from here was bidding on it - nah - not really.)

Black watch Scottish hand sewn (Thomas Gordon and Sons)

It was made in the late 60's for a soldier in the 2nd Royal Highland Division. Here's the ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=270229630188

The weight was unexpected. I've tried it on (I was hoping it would fit) but haven't had a chance to wear it yet. It's in my car right now. I may just change and take a nice walk during lunch today.

I'm also considering a Stillwater Standard - MacLaren. (I'm really after the MacLaren tartan and I know Stillwater has them).

Congratulations on your find. We'll need to have pics of the kilt in action though

    Post Rhc

I believe what you have here is an ex Black Watch of Canada (RHC) kilt. If I remember correctly, my old Black Watch of Canada kilt also had the designation RHC on the label, and it was made by Gordon & Sons as well.

    Regards,

    Todd

    Congrats on the kilt.

You know, of course, that we require pictures of all new acquisitions.

    Congratulations.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

You are probably correct. I only know what I read in the label and what was posted in the ebay auction.

Still - I'm excited about the find. The weight is what surprised me the most. I expected it to be heavier than my Black Stewart (home made), but it was even heavier than I expected.

I'm going to be wearing it out and about soon.

Sounds like you've got a perfect kilt for next winter.
