No, it's not a problem with the sporran belt, it has to do with the metal eyelets that the sporran belt passes through, they're square and large enough that the belt moves freely through them. If I tighten up the belt, then the sporran is in the way when I sit down, the top of the sporran is only a half hand below the bottom of the kilt belt.
I have a pair of sporran suspenders from USAK and they work great, they don't allow the sporran to move much. I suppose I'll stick with them.
