There should have been one more option: It depends on the occasion. For instance, if there will be a lot children around or other sensitive individuals, and the risk of exposure is great.

Kilting regimental is why I wear a kilt. The first time I ever wore a kilt was regimental. I was just in the house and after five minutes I was asking myself, "why do men wear pants?" I am not going to 'ding' others for wearing a kilt in a different manner. For me regimental is soooooooo comfortable. It greatly reduces a lot of irritation that I deal with in 'standard western mens dress'.

    That's the WHOLE POINT, man!

Actually, I find it very uncomfortable to have anything on under the Kilt. The only exception is when it gets really hot outside. Having sweat running down your legs is definitely not comfortable.

It depends on the weather, we don't want a wind malfunction in front of little kiddies...or do we?

I don't know what it's like for most of the men here, but I travel almost always on public trransportaion. I have found that when I am taking a seat on a subway or bus, I never have room to adjust my kilt properly. I have decided that the chance of a bare rump on a seat which has been occupied by several dozen people in the previous hours is best avoided by wearing briefs.

    regimental

I rarely go regimental (though my wife likes it at home). I never, ever go regimental when I know for a fact that children will be present. Anything could happen and said parents could raise a big stink over it...and win.

It depends on the occasion and the quality of the kilt I'm wearing. If I'm wearing a Stillwater I may go regimental and wash it frequently. If a more expensive wool I wear boxers to compliment the kilt colors. Wearing something around children is always a good idea.
