David, I was thinking the exact same thing. I love the sporran but really want to be able to wear it with my modern kilts using a sporran strap. The large strap is really well stitched on so I'm leary about cutting it off.

Very nice, they're twins! I think James used Elk for the body of the sporran. You could park a truck inside.

					Really awsome sporrans, fellows!
One thing, though: you can't get any more traditional than a sporran that hangs directly from the main kilt belt. It seems like it would be a shame to cut up such beautiful sporrans.

I like them and I'm with Ryan it would be a real shame to cut them perhaps you could try it as is to see what you think before doing anything to them.

Thats right Ryan-thats why I haven't modified the strap. It was made for wearing with a great kilt. The only think that would change would be the large strap if it was modified.

I deffinitely hear where you're coming from, good Sir. I guess all it really comes down to is personal preference. Some folks don't mind mixing items of a period nature with modern forms of clothing. Others would rather stick to either modern or historic dress. Personally, I really like being able to just thread a sporran onto my kilt belt and go...

That said, I've met plenty of guys who find this arangement uncomfortable, or just don't like the look. With that in mind, it should be pretty easy to rig up a small loop, well suited to a sporran belt.
Also, if you're in the market for a sporran belt that would match the dark leather of your sporran very closely, I know that Lamar (of Ferguson Britt sporrans) will sell you just a sporran belt- his are quite remarkable and high quality.

I really like those sporrans. I personally would wear it as is with a casual outfit and pull it around to the side. I like I like.
