I just love that North coast of mainland Scotland.I spent much of my youth stalking and fishing in the Durness area.Absolutely superb WILD brown trout fishing in some wonderful limestone lochs. The midges were awful though!Oh,great pictures by the way.

Thank you all for your kind comments.
SFCRick & Beloitpiper - usually on holidays at home I am kilted. Unfortunately, on this occasion it was evenings only in the hotel as it was so cold. Now the cold doesn't usually bother me, but this was the coldest I can ever remember. Also my photo-taking style normally doesn't include anybody let alone me. I feel that as I only have the one kilt, I ain't gonna look any different than the stuff I've posted before. However, I shall try and make a point of it next time.
Standard - thank you for the compliment, but I am not a professional photographer. I am still using 35mm film, but since joining xmarks I am now having the negs saved to cd so as I can share with you. My basic understanding of photography is the use of light and composition. The only thing I have used is a polariser filter attached to the lens which gives the sky and cloud it's best effect.
Hamish - this is my first time as far north. For many years I have holiday'd abroad. Over the last 2 I have decided to look at my own country for a change. The cheapest way to do it is on a coaching holiday. This one to Thurso was 139 pounds for dinner, bed and breakfast, 5 days. I was speaking with a couple who did Mull and Iona the year before themselves and spent 1000.00. I look forward to doing more.

I thought I'd resurrect these as I think first time round they kinda disappeared pretty quick. It's to put myself in the mood for my next vacation.

Those pictures bring back memories of my trip to that area in 05. You must have driven past the Clan Gunn centre in Latheron ?
Thanks for sharing your trip with us
