    Indeed. Yuck. Blech.

It was so hot in the house the other day (swamp cooler running at half mast....still trying to repair the rest of it) that I had to put the scotch in the darn refrigerator!! Reached for a wee dram at the end of a long day..... and YECK! it was noteably warm from just sitting on the kitchen counter.

Sandals (Tevas or Birkies) are my first choice. If not, then Gore-Tex lined low-top hiking boots and cotton socks for evaporative cooling.

Hiking in warm weather...I replace the cotton socks with heavier synthetic or wool, but have my Tevas in my pack!

I'll also use a thinner web belt (or no belt at all) rather than a wide leather one...cooler and not a problem if I get caught out in the rain.

Happily here in the mountains it cools off pretty quickly after sunset, so if I'm going to a formal or dressy affair full kit is usually not too uncomfortable.

It was 109 about 2-3 days ago. Today the high is 74 degrees.

    Talk about climate shock!
