Casual and Semi-trad in the Same Tartan
The MacLean Hunting is an historic tartan up on the Trotternish Peninsula of Skye where my grandfather's roamed. And, its Sir Sean Connery's tartan...or at least he wears it frequently.
When I first started buying USA Kilts I bought a casual model in MacLean Hunting. The more I wore it the more I wanted it in the semi-trad model.
Don't think I've seen a comparison of the casual and the semi-trad in the same tartan. So, here you go. Though, I don't think the difference shows well with this camera - particularly when the tartan pattern seems to scramble the camera's digital brain.
The semi-trad has leather straps, more and deeper pleats, and weighs more. The casual has velcro closure - which I often wear without a belt with no problems.
This is the casual

This is the semi-traditional

Hope that's helpful...but not sure how.
