Maybe I led a sheltered life, but my parents took me to lots of Highland Games as a kid (in the 1960's), and I never, ever heard "the question" or even knew of its premise until I started reading XMarks. Where did all these other people learn about this? Did I miss some required topic in grade school?

Possibly... though I'm surprised to see men asking the question of other men. Now for us gals... at least for me... the endless fascination...and curiosity...
In part it does stem I admit on the fact that I know that some men DO wear something under that kilt (that isn't lipstick).
