Crack me up Beeman! Too bad there's not a pic of that Mk I with TSA's baffled looks.
Any yes....Little Beach is still in pre-missionary Hawai'ian mode. Still baffled at an apparent old tradition. A most lovely and near-mermaid swimmer, young Native lass gave herself a sand bath. She sat a few feet above the tide and rubbed sand on herself...not hard or briskly, just a gentle polish...as if she was using a washcloth...only it was just sand and her hands. Even my well educated brother had no clue. She seemed to be enjoying the sensations...sort of meditating...so we didn't do the tacky thing and interrupt her to ask for clarification. Her boyfriend/husband was also near and he was well tattooed with Traditional Hawai'ian warrior tats. Just a thing of beauty... a memory to pass the time at the rest home someday.
My "sand bath" came in the surf...strong stuff here. Pummeled me about in many directions...rolled me up the beach like any other piece of floatsam.
Tonight is the big drum circle and fire dance at Little Beach. Planning on enjoying that then over to Mulligan's for chow, Celtic music by the Celtic Tigers, and "hoo hah" afterwards. Kilted of course. Think its time for the new Caledonia tartan to take a spin.
