Just call me Heinz. As in Heinz-57... a pure mutt if you care to know. The thing that is most Scottish about me is my surname.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

At this point in history there are very few people of British descent who do not have Norman and Celtic ancestry. (E.g., like many, I descend from several Scots kings as well as the English kings William I, John, and Edwards I & III.) However, see "Blood of the Isles" by Brian Sykes, a geneticist whose research shows that all Britons, even the English, are predominately of Celtic descent. The Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Danes, Vikings and Normans seem to have made far less of a contribution to the British gene pool than is popularly thought.

Well, since the topic was brought up- I'm Scot, Irish, German, and English. I like to get drunk and kick my own as... butt.

Further to Gilmore's comment, this thread discusses some of that research.

That article was a terrible one but the thread in entirety does help the issue herein.
How about typical Pictish family names ?
Best,
Robert
I'd say read this firstly:
http://www.heatherrosejones.com/name...hanalysis.html
Also Pictish names of any sort, that are about now anyway, have probably been Gaelicised by the incoming Gaels/Scots or Anglicised by the English/Germanic peoples over the years.
This is alsoa fine link for anyone reading this thread about linguistics of surnames in the Isles:
