I'd like to also add that my 13oz tank doesn't suffer from wrinkles as bad as my PV kilts do, so the material also plays a big part.

I spend my day bouncing in and out of a chair. I am on my feet when it comes to checking inventory, but parked on my fat butt while keying the data into the computer. My 13 oz and 16 oz wool tanks just plain don't wrinkle. I do sweep my pleats every time I sit, and as much as possible do the two hand sweep. My USAK P/V kilts rarely get a wrinkle, and that generally goes away after standing for a short time. BTW, I still sweep my pleats when sitting.. even on the days I am wearing jeans.
Now that we have covered the wrinkles to the kilt part... Sitting in a kilt requires practice. See Hamish's video. With the proper sweep, the pleats will be flat pressed under the bum. If the pleats aren't properly swept, the heavier kilts will supply wrinkles to the back of your thighs, and sometimes to the bum.
