Well, first avoid inexpensive kilts.
Work as a therapist and am seated most of the day. As mentioned sweeping is a key. I've not had a problem with Utilikilts, Freedom Kilts, USA Kilts, and especially hand sewn wool kilts which are bulletproof.
At the end of the day when you're home just brush them off like you would a suit, hang them. The pleats usually fall back into place. If they have some wrinkles then use a portable steamer and they'll fall out.
During the day the few wrinkles aren't very noticable. Have a bunch of pleat shots in my photobucket gallery showing pleats after a long day of sitting, either in the office, or traveling.
Not to worry....if the kilt isn't inexpensive.

Just to be contrary (OK this really is my opinion), I'm gonna go the exact opposite of Ron (who loves you Ron).
While I wear kilts 99% of the time, I am usually not at a desk much. However, over the months of April and May I took a temp job that kept me sitting at a computer 8 hours a day, six days a week.
In terms of comfort while sitting all day the kilts rank as follows
1. Stillwater standard
2. USA semi trad
3. UK corduroy (this was the wide wale test run they did, I don't know if their current ones are as comfy)
4. UK Denim
5. UK originals/Union Kilt denim
6. 16 oz 5 yd wool
7. UK Survival
8. 16 oz Tank
9. UK workman, Rkilt
After about 3 weeks I started only wearing 1-4 (and I am about to do another 2 weeks for the company so will probably order another SWK in the next week or so).
As for pleats, I haven't had any problem with any of them other than the workmans kilts (they do not like to be sat in that long).

A lot of good info here...thanks everyone.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear
