I'm of Gaulic and Gaelic heritage, with a Norman (via Quebec) surname and a mom who was a MacDonald. Indeed, Somerled, the grandfather of the progenitor of Clan Donald, sired what would become the Donald line with a Norse wife. Consider a bit further back when Celts reigned as the superpower in Europe...prior to the might of Rome, 'The Celts' were as prevalent in Gaul (France) and most of the rest of mainland Europe as they ever were in the British Isles. They didn't move into France (Gaul), they were the native tribes of Gaul. Their linguistic and cultural grouping are what made the many and varied tribes of peoples who made up the Celts "Celtic", not their DNA. A kilt is no more 'Celtic' than Lederhosen are. BUT they are comfortable and look good.
