Kilted at the gig.
I play drum set with a swing band on the weekends. It's an okay gig. Pay is good, but for a long time I wanted to learn bagpipes.
So, I started taking pipe lessons recently. However, I never told the band about it. They found out this past weekend when my pipe instructor showed up at the gig in full kilt attire. I had never seen a real wool tartan kilt in person before, that thing (regardless of how itchy it looks) is seriously badass.
He told me the thing is only 13 oz wool and it still weighs a ton to pick it up, but when you wear it you never notice how heavy it is.

That's something I'd really, really like to try. However, I still have alot of work before I'm playing at that level. I'm still learning movements and tunes in the starting stages of piping.

Itching was my big fear of wool kilts. Turns out they don't itch after all. I've 11 of them now. Not an itchy kilt in the lot.
Heavy is good, that's what gives the swing. You understand swing. Getcha one.

Not if us bass players have anything to say about it- and we will!!
And yeah, wool kilts feel great! I only have one, but it's my favorite out of all my kilts. I can't wear in the summer, usually, since it gets really hot here, but it's also extremely out right now, so I have a good excuse to strap it on.

Guys, come on. It's the drummer and the bass player working together that is the coolest part of any band.
Singers can belt high notes until they're blue in the face and guitar players can wail an incredibly, lighting fast string of notes during a solo and the patrons at the bar may never really pay attention to either.
However, any drum solo no matter how bad the drummer (I am living proof) will not only get attention but make women scream everytime. Not to mention a bass solo with a little bit of "slap" turns EVERY head in the bar EVERY time... if you're playing in LA it typically gets you a few phone numbers as well.
Lastly, playing any instrument while kilted always gets you a positive reaction from women.
