I'm not sure about that yet, I'm still waiting for James MacMillan to reply to my PM, his tassels look great.

I couldn't resist putting up this photo of a pair of garter ties. They're knitted with the same device described in this thread, originally by James MacMillan.

The colors are red & dark green, selected to reflect the major colors in one of my kilts.

They are comfortable to wear - much more so than the typical elastic flashes.

I've knitted mine to go once 'round my leg and that works just fine for me.

    Slainte yall,
    steve

Ah, thank you.. he did his tassels nicely.

About tying: Anyone who was in the US Navy or the Boy Scouts, or knows how to tie a bowline, might remember how to tie a bowline. This type of knot works perfectly for these garter ties.

and someone mentioned making theirs in two different colors of yarn.. excellent idea!

Update: I meant clovehitch rather than bowline.. my Navy knowledge has slipped!

    Try a clove hitch.

Alternatively, I think someone mentioned looping twice around, tying an overhand knot, and tucking the ends under: that works too. There's usually just enough stretch to the garters that they will hold nicely, without being too tight.
