Hello and a warm Celtic from Boston, Massachusetts.
The "Heritage of Scotland" is a series of shops run by the Gold Bros. The kilt is probably made in Pakistan, with Acrylic, or Polyviscous fibers of questionable quality. If you use the search engine on this site with key words "Gold Bros" or "Heritage of Scotland" you will get a screen full. Pour1Malt was being very nice in his post. Many of us will not make purchases from them for using terms such as "Scottish designed kilt" and " Scottish Highland kilt" for their products, which are neither made in Scotland, or of Scottish materials. This less than honest approach to business has left a sour taste to some of us on the forum. You will find them referred here as "tat shops" as their business model is to use the allure of the Scottish Highland tradition for a quick buck off of unsuspecting tourists. All of the advertisers here are honest in their disclosure of what they are marketing, and their products are labeled with the country of manufacture and the materials used. "Heritage of Scotland" uses the Royal Mile to market to tourists products that allege to be Scottish, when in fact they are not.
I will not knock your getting one as a first kilt. But as Pour1Malt said in his post, there is nothing like a kilt of 16 oz or 20 oz Scottish wool that has been hand stitched to the measure of the person that will be wearing it.
Kelley & Rocky's Semi-traditional kilts are made to measure - the kilt is custom to you. There is nothing like it. I own two Semi-Traditionals, and can dress them up or down depending on the activity I have planned.
When you get some time, read the kilt Dos and Donts thread under kilt advise, and wear the kilt proudly.
