Rex,
Thank you so much for the link. If I run into any last minute needs, I now have a place to go.
If you do manage to make it up Sunday, I will be serving at one of the beer booths from 11:00 - 2:30. Not sure we could make contact, but I would look forward to meeting you.
Thanks again.

As for hose (or socks), since you'll be wearing the Black Watch tartan I'd recommend in order of personal preference mind you:
1. A Pair of Lovat Green hose w/red flashes
2. A pair of Khaki Hose w/ red flashes
You can find them at JD Higgins for super cheap. What Price Glory also has the 'military' hose for the BW kilt, but their website states they are roughly 100 orders behind so you may not get them in time for your Fest.
Thanks for the vote of confidence.
Did you find the sizing of SWK to be accurate? I ordered according to my naval measurement (40") and the only option I had was for a 42". My wife is an excellent seamstress and can make any minor adjustments, but if it is waaay oversized I won't have time to get a replacement.

I'm quite fair-skinned but it's hard to tell once I strap on the kilt and hose - the kneecaps are the only things that show.

They'll say Wow! You're wearing a kilt!
Last time I had the opportunity to compare degree of knee-brownness with 3 fellow kilties, (we were all four sitting in a garden in Sussex at the time) the full-time wearers certainly didn't obviously have it over the occasional and infrequent wearers in terms of knee colour. Just find some nice kilt hose and enjoy the feel of the sun and breeze on your knees.

Again this us up to you. Try going regimental before the day. If you find it comfortable, do it. If you don't, wear some undergarments. It's no big deal.

She's right - you probably do look great in it. Go out somewhere local (do a run for groceries?) with your supportive wife by your side, and you'll soon get over your shyness. Don't be surprised when strangers strike up conversations with you, though.
best regards
