Well, it's a 6 yard kilt not an 8 yard. The amount that I removed really freed up the thickness greatly. I have normally made 4 yard kilts and have not needed to remove any excess. The way the inner pleats land in the 6 yard kilt I'm making, seemed over kill. Besides, I don't reveal everything I do and its order as I construct this. Another reason I decided to leave more material, the thread that shows Steve (Freedom Kilts) repair those old military kilts that fell apart really got me thinking.

The kilt I made before this one was an Infants box-pleat. After working on the past 5 kilts I've nearly completed (this is the 5th), I'm probably going to make box-pleats exclusively. The infants box-pleat was the 4th kilt.
