Because I have a large belly, and no hips or backside to speak of, I have a couple of kilts that I always wear suspen-braces with. In fact I have 3 different colors. The suspen-braces go under the vest or sweater as Jock has said. This might not be totally acceptable by the fashionistas, but it sure keeps the kilt off the floor and is easier than having to keep pulling the kilt up and tightening the straps!

Thanks for your responses, Jock and Rob! I have no problem with wearing suspenders/braces under something. I do that anyway when I wear them, which is easy, since I wear my shirts out.
I hadn't thought about being able to do so under sweaters. Unfortunately, that won't work for hot weather. What to do then?

Thanks all for your responses.
Belts vs suspenders(braces) or both.
My friend may just have to try the different techniques of kilt-drop-prevention, with or without fashion-angst.

That looks great. (I know, different guys have different takes on suspen-bracers aesthetics.

Redshank, this appears to be a "take off" ( no offence meant) of the earlier "Mil." Kilts & Trewas. I have seen.

Here is my 2 cnts worth I am "slender ( 33" waist @ naval) 34" @ bottom rib & 36" @ "posterior"
1.Mil. kilts & Trews have buttons for BRACES ( at least mine do) & are worn with them. I often wear them. They also allow the kilt to hang better.
2. ALL my kilts are made to be worn "HIGH" ( just @ the bottom rib, "Military style") This allows the bottom of the belt to rest on my hip bone. If I wore a kilt @ the "naval" height ( which seems most do ) then it would FALL !!!

Pardon me for being blunt friend, but the best solution would be to lose some weight.
I know it isn't easy, but you'll look better, and you'll feel better. Once you have a waistline, your kilt will stay up just fine.
Cheers,
Rick

There is another thread similar to this. I am large with no but and my kilts like to head south. I saw on a military clothing web site a device for keeping your shirt looking good. I was basically a soft rubber strap/belt the was worn under your pants and on top of the shirt tail. This created friction between the pants, belt line and shirt to keep the shirt from riding up.
I picked up anti-skid padding at Wally World, used for lining drawers, shelves, placed under rugs to keep them from sliding, etc. I cut it into a strip about 2 inches wide and long enough to go around my waist. Hook and Loop was placed on the end. I put my shirt on, put this anti-skid belt on and place the kilt on top. I place the anti-skid belt at the lower half of the area pulled tight by the kilt straps.
The kilt puts pressure on the anti-skid belt, the anti-skid belt puts pressure on the shirt and the shirt acts like suspenders/braces.
