Do what I did.
Go to your local Goodwill, DAV, Consignment shop and find either a belt, purse, or strap of some kind that you would like and is at least an inch wide and about 15" long.
Then go to your local hardware store/ national chain and find two trigger snaps that will fit the strap. You'll also need a pair of snaps (I used YKK #24), a kilt usually comes with the tools you'll need (minus a hammer).
Cut the strap into two 7" to 7-1/2" long pieces, add the trigger snaps* and the corresponding snap component at each end (color or finish of the snap doesn't matter because they will be hidden behind the belt.) and your done!
For a chain I bought a decorative piece at the same hardware store and cut it to about 7" and looped it through the sporran and clipped each end into the trigger snaps.
Total cost-----------$8.25
Purse at Goodwill ----$3
trigger snaps-----2@$3 ($1.50 each)
snaps set-----------$1.50
Chain----------------$.75
*Go ahead and get one set of chrome finish and one of brass so you can swap them out to match your accessories.
