I carry this one exclusively, partly because it's the only one I own but also because it's a utilitarian blade

That's an excellent sheath, and TOP MARKS if you made it. The first batch of these sgians to make it to the market had sheaths thick as boot leather and stitching around the edge that would have done a Tandy Leathercrafter's wallet project proud. Great leather work, but far to heavy for use. I'm really impressed with the job you did.

Thanks Mac, I was constantly in fear of shredding my kilt hose. This gives me a clear, safe shot right into the scabbard, even after a few drinks One day we need to run with a Black and Nickel version of this puppy.

I think the fittings are nickel-- at least mine polish to a bright white, just like the nickel radiator on my car. You can stain the grips black if you want. Perhaps the thing to do would be order a run of XMTS Officer sgians dubh with black scales? Just a thought.

Oohhh.... now that sounds interesting. I'd like mine with an XMTS clan crest, and a blackened blade like my Benchmade 910 Stryker has. That would be a good tool to have along for a day in the great outdoors.

I've had one for about three years now. It's a good blade, but be careful of the corkscrew—it's quite inadequate.

Yup. Cat's out of the bag and the sgian is clear of the hose. Gonna need one now...
MacMillan, I had no idea that you were with Wilkinson, let alone the man behind this blade. Nice work! So you (and Cavscout) would be the ones to ask - how is the blade? Is it functional? Will it take and hold an edge?

Just so there's no confusion, I'm not affiliated with the design or marketing of anything related to this sgian. Mac deserves all the credit for a great, functional blade.
Mine came with a very good edge on it and so far I've not needed to sharpen it. I'm very pleased with this knife.
