Wake The Dead - The Best of Both Worlds!
(Posted this under the Unrelated Topic earlier; didn't find the Celtic Music topics until just now!)
Last year I came across a cd from a great little band located in the Bay Area, called Wake the Dead.
Basically, they are a Celtic Jam Band that blends music of such greats like The Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan (mostly Dead stuff, though) with traditional Celtic reels and jigs and such.
They only have three albums out, but there are ways of getting copies of some live shows, as well (I might be able to track them down if one were to PM me...).
I'll try to find someplace where you can listen to songs or parts of songs (if you're the kind that likes to listen before you buy) and then I'll post the link under this Thread.
They were the first on my new MP3 player and they always have a presence in my truck. They keep me in a good mood on my way to work and they put me back in a good mood on the way home.
Definitely worth checking out if you love Celtic music and Jerry Garcia's musical talents.
(Now if I could just get them to tour in the Midwest...)
On a non-Celtic side note, if you enjoy Grateful Dead and JAZZ, then you should try looking for some slightly older CDs by a group called Jazz is Dead. I've seen them on Overstock.com before at really reasonable prices. Same concept, but with Jazz music.
