I do this as well, if I take it off I usually hang it up with my jacket and hat.

I am reminded of a true tale I was told about a very high class hotel chain with branches in Scotland which allowed their male staff to wear the kilt if they so desired but with a sporran to "avoid any embarrassing bulges"

Yeah. Sporrans for me are not only a way of carrying my stuff, but also covering the bulge. It's a flat expanse of fabric and I'm going regimental... go figure.

I almost always wear a sporran with my Sport Kilt. I feel like the apron hangs funny if I put my phone and keys in the pockets, and the weight of the sporran helps keep the apron down on windy hikes.

Yep me too; If it's a non-trad kilt with pockets=no sporran.
Tartan/Trad Kilt (even with pockets) looks weird without a sporran.

I like wearing the sporran with my kilts. I can't imagine not wearing a sporran with a kilt (even with contemporary kilts). That being said, I don't mind the look of a kilt without a sporran. It's just something that feels right to me.

Thanks for all the input and opinions guys.
What about a UK? Sporran look weird with a UK?

With the UK there are those snaps in front which kind of fill in the empty expanse of the apron. The pockets make a sporran redundant, yet the snaps fit the bill for a neater kilt-like appearance.
IMHO The plain apron (no sporran or snaps give a skirt type look. Just a personal preference.

I always wear a sporran for two reasons...
1. Looks good, and in my opinion the kilt looks almost incomplete without it.
and 2. It is a nice guard against wind.
