Listing tartans when posting kilt pics?
Hello all
I would like to suggest that we all try to list the tartan whenever a kilt picture is posted, even if the pic isnt really "about" a tartan, maybe its about a pleating style, or a comparison of kilt makers, etc. I dont know many specific tartans and see many tartans I would like a closer look at, read some info on. In time I will probly recognize more, but I do tend to be a slow learner

Depends on the practicality. Sometimes it is difficult to identify all the tartans one photographs at Highland Games, but on the other hand at a Pipe Band Competition, the tartans worn by the various bands are normally stated in the programme.

Actually, I think that is a very good idea. Every one of us is curious about tartans whether they are the subject of a photo or not. All we need to add to our captions is something like "Tartans L to R: ....." and then name them (if we can!). I shall certainly try to do this in future.
Take care,
Ham.

Great idea, there are many of us who have given in to the addiction, but have lots to learn.

That sounds like motion carried to me.

I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

It makes some sense to try and do this. After all, the first question always seems to be "What tartan is that?"
