Good article. I was born and brought up in Paisley and can remember the days when Houston Menswear sold more trousers than kilts. I have bought two of Houstons kilts, both machine stitched, their hand finished ones are quite expensive. Interesting that the hand finished kilts, like the machine finished ones, have as few as 23 pleats as the kilts which I have had made up locally for me since I moved to the Scottish Borders usually have between 36 and 40 pleats, all a matter of the individual kiltmaker's style I suppose.
