The other day I picked up my wife at her place of work. It happened to be my first kilted day at work, which went rather well. She works for a doctor here in Tucson at his ranch. Most doctors I know are a little odd. The demands of their job require that they have the ability to blow off steam and relax. Sometimes in most unusual ways. Allan plays the guitar, trains horses, drives his Shelby, teaches others how to run Equine Assisted Therapy clinics, writes books about surgery( he's a neurosurgeon), he even wrote a book about spiritual encounters in the OR, and a host other things. There is no moss on his shoes.
So upon entering my wife's office I heard quiet talking in the family room. As I approached the room I heard Allan say "I can't imagine what he'll look like in that." This from a man who proudly wears his Hamilton Tartan kilt with great pride. I boldly entered the room and walked right up to Allan. He looked me up and down and announced that I am now a card carrying member of the eccentrics club. A trait that Allan and I hold in high regard. It made my day.

Anyone can be normal. It takes talent to be an oddball.

Why be normal anyway? Eccentric/oddball is so much more fun.

I was always told that to be eccentric you had to have money. I am just a bit strange.

Check out www.allanhamilton.com to see how eccentric he can be. His book, "The Scalpel and the Soul" is a good read.
