Can't believe all the Charlotteans on this thread! I've NEVER seen a kiltie in Charlotte. I've love to meet up for a kilt night, but---as you can see I'm "fudgeman". Nearly every weekend the wife and I are off somewhere for a festival selling fudge and glazed nuts. So, weekends are a big problem for me. I'll watch to see what the decision is and if at all, possible I'll try and attend. And, for all you locals--we'll be at the Matthews Alive Festival this weekend and Festival in the Park in a couple weeks. Please stop by and introduce yourself. Look for the "Fresh Fudge", "Glazed Nuts" banner. Just wanted to add that we will not be on the main street. So, if you go to the festival at night we won't be open. We're in the Arts and Crafts area--spaces 15-16. A&C hours are Sat 9-7:30; Sun 12-7:30 and Mon 9-6:00. Hope to see you there.

Hey there, I've been gone for a while and might be able to be around Charlotte (from Winston-Salem) for a kilt night depending on when it is. What are you planning? Also, any folks in GSO or W-S want to try a get together?

So what time do these celebrations normally start, and how long do they last? Just curious as I'm currently looking at a couple of hours drive to get to the Charlotte area, so if it's an evening kind of thing, I may not be able to attend, depending on how late they run.....

Well, they can go from the evening to the night...but it'll really depend on what we're doing.

I second that.. all ages... What I would like to for sure not do RiRa's. One of the reasons we have done RiRa's is it is an Irish Pub, they have really great food, and on Sunday's there is live Celtic Music. The downside is that it can go fairly late and two of our members have school Monday morning and I remember their mother saying that it was rather difficult because of that.

So this really is an open forum on suggestions and ideas. If we go with either the last Saturday or Sunday in September that would work great. However, there is starting the following weekend the Renn. Faire and we could try to do something conjunction to that.

I know that Brixx Pizza in Charlotte is very accomodating to groups. But it could be anywhere. Normally it's a place that we have dinner at. We could start it at a reasonable time of 5:30 to 6pm ish...

Another idea that was bandied about quite a bit was Frisbee Golf in the park and then dinner.

    Or lunch, whichever works.

I can drive now, so that won't be a problem...mostly.

Frisbee golf sounds fun. But other suggestions may be taken

Well, if we can nail down a date, I can start working on my better half to let me out of the cage I know nothing about frisbee golf, but am willing to take a stab at just about anything. Day into early evening works well for me, as I have a 3 month old and a 2 year old at home, so early mornings are the norm, and I don't hang out too late anymore, lest I regret it at 6 AM (assuming I get to sleep that late)
