I like any and every cap except a ball or fishing (front brim only) cap.

I own two flat caps and a balmoral, the balmoral is good but I prefer flat caps because, as stated above, they go with anything and everyone looks good in them.

I wear hats infrequently (usually when I will be in the elements for an extended time.) They range from an old fedora,to a short brimmed boonie, to an old cover.

Flatcaps seem very popular. I often wear my great grandfathers old grey flatcap. Though, I haven't been able to locate it recently...

Other than that I'll wear a black fedora, a black knit cap or even a repro wool olive drab WWII jeep cap.

While not quite the "mad hatter" I have a black balmoral, with black torrie, no dicing, clan livery cockade & badge. Dorfman Pacific off white straw "planter's" hat w/tartan band, black crushable fedora w/tartan band, "tin cloth" trilby for wet weather, and a lovat blue trilby for general wear, plus a "safari" hat with mesh sides for when I have to be out in the sun. (I really burn. I'm toying with the idea of making a coloured tam to go with a new kilt when I get it. . . . that's in the queue ahead of the hose toppers.
