Since I wear exclusively tartan kilts I think it makes a difference what hat I wear with them. Balmoral in basic black for relatively formal/semi formal occasions, flat or country caps in appropriate tartans or a complimentary color in more casual occasions. Outside I always wear a cap becasue of my balding pate. Inside depends on my mood and situation. I have a vintage diced glengarry that I have yet to find an opportunity to wear, particularly as I do not pipe and these seem relatively reserved to uniformed situations. Just ordered a couple more hats from ramscraig on ebay, custom sized, in a couple different colors of Balmorals-----jacobite blue to honor the last highlander resistence, red (I just like the red), and a Irish caubeen becasue I think its height on the peaked side is an attractive look compared to a Balmoral which tends to sag a bit more. Should have them in a few weeks. Maybe some pics to follow, if I get a chance.
