Up here in Alaska, all the kilted SCAdians I have known have just worn poet shirts (aka Jacobite shirts, poofy shirts, cheesemaker shirts). It looks like they are sort of trying to make an effort. Of course, the fact that the kilts are typically made of bright red flannel plaids that look like tablecloths will sort of detract from that look...
I am no longer in the SCA, but still have several friends who are. (In my case, injuries to my back made fighting impossible for me and that was the only thing left for me in the SCA.)
