It was funny, the average age of the people in the course was 17 to 19 years, it seemed like nobody knew waht to make of me for a few days. Lots of them were from secluded parts of the country. Even the staff ripped on me for a few days but everyone accepted it and when I'd show up on weekends after breaks and was wearing pants people were asking what happened to the kilt.
Well, if you enlisted in the reserves in Victoria, and are in the army, then would it not be the Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princes Mary's)? They wear the Hunting Stewart...

I think it could also be 5th Field Regiment RCA or 11 Service Battalion, Casper, but my bet is that jkruger is a knee-shiner!

Just a not "5 Tribe" as they are called is a regiment, not a battery.

I can just picture showing up for basic in a kilt at Knox back in 65.
Can see that lifer WW2 DI's face now and what would have happened.A yep.
Few months later showing up at Ord for AIT.
YIKES.Another DI meaner than the one at Knox.
Than a few months after that showing up at Benning for Jump school.
The Instructors there would have scared the wits out of the first two DI's.
Than on to Campbell.Well if I had showed up there kilted-Kilt is probibly what would have happened to me.
Lastly, I sure would not have dreamed of showing up at Bragg for Ranger Training wearing a kilt.
Lets put it this way.
The Instructors there would have made all the others look like sissies.
As Ron put it,Your a brave lad Joe.A very brave lad indeed.
