Hey, I know the feeling. I don't want to infringe on Thompson's copyright, so I'll just tell you the dimensions I used (mostly the same as Thompson but not exactly)/

My pouch was a chopped off circle nine inches in diameter across and eight inches top to bottom--you need two, front and back. I also added an inch and a half at the top to fold over. To clarify, it's really shaped like a "U"--it's nine inches wide even at the top edge.

My gussets were three inches wide and an additional inch and a half was allowed for a fold over there too. This foldover helps to reinforce the area through which you will thread your lace or braid or whatever.

My front stiffener was 6.75" long and 2.5" wide, split to six ounce, skived (beveled) on the bottom edges, and covered on the inside.

The flap is a five inch circle attached to a five inch by two and a half wide rectangle that widens, as it gets closer to the circle, to about 3 inches. This is all cut as one piece from saddle or belting leather (like your stiffener) and split to about 5 or six ounce and then covered . There is no back stiffener, the rectangular part of the flap is the back stiffener.

I put my button too high. Ideally it should adhere to...what do they call it?...the "Golden Mean" and be one-third the diameter of the circle from the bottom edge. I knew that but I just buzzed right through it without thinking [doh!]
