He did offer to send it overnight and to waive the postal charges, and you still weren't happy. His response when you said you still weren't happy may have been a bit rude, but perhaps an understandable kneejerk reaction at what he considered a customer impossible to please. The timescale is not unreasonable for a bespoke kilt, though he should not have promised quick completion if he wasn't in a position to keep his promise. I'd write it off to experience, pay for the kilt without disputing the charges but take your business elsewhere next time. I agree with Rocky, take the high road and let the karma do the rest, you've made your point here and others can make up their own minds. I have never dealt with Scotland Yard but I've been very pleased with the service I received from Rocky and with the kilt I received from him.

I agree. He never should've promised such a quick delivery. Had he told you 8-12 weeks and gotten it to you in 4 or 5, you'd have come back here, singing their praises to the Xers.
Rocky's right: if you get your kilt, smile, say thank you and let it go. Remember: the world is round.

That last post is spot on. Most kiltmakers I know advertize an 8 to 12 week turn around time. I know we do at the Scottish Tartans Museum. Seems like if you are getting a good kilt at a good price all would have been well if you had originally been told "8 to 12" weeks instead of the super-fast deliver time you were promised.
Seems like the main problem here is their setting up high expectations that they couldn't follow up on.

A great motto for ANY business to follow:
UNDER-promise and OVER-deliver.

While I agree that he seemed a bit rude, I gotta ask, is he really sipping the kilt before you finish paying for it? I've never seen another kiltmaker do this, most won't even start the kilt till they have payment in full. Seems to me that he is being overly generous, and now afraid that you might get the kilt and then stop further payments.

True he did promise the Kilt early but he is not the kilt maker just a broker and not Totally in control of the whole process. Now granted he should have kept his promise of the credit card billing but if you get the kilt within the next week and it is well made and fits fine---??? What the heck? The kilt is paid for and you have your kilt.
I own my own business and some time I promise to do things and the supplier does not get the parts to me as promised and I am left holding the bag and getting yelled at and I have to bite my tongue and apologize. May be he had a rough day?
Just Count to Ten--- the kilt is in the shop and Ky is not that far away.

Am I the only one who saw the title and thought to himself...
"Wow, the Inspectors and Investigators at Scotland Yard aren't being professional? This I gotta see!!"
Hehe, I guess the mind jumps to what we're most familiar with.
As to the actual topic/content of the post, I think the advice you've already received is spot on. If you decide to order another kilt, I can't say enough good things about Rocky and Kelly at USAK. I only own one kilt, but the experience with those two was so good that I can already tell you where my next kilt is coming from when the finances(and the missus) allow.

An annoyance. Deal with it.
One of the most popular of all errors is "righteous" anger---letting other people decide what you shall do, as if they would decide in your favor.
It's also one of the most expensive.
