Jeez...if ya' can't start a fight at a friend's wedding, whose wedding can ya' start a fight at?

Has something exactly like this ever happened to me? No. Something like it? Yeah. I mean, do you really think that there's anybody living in the civilized world today who is so stupid or socially retarded that they don't know what a kilt is? So why do they make a big deal about calling it a "skirt"? To make a little joke...to get a rise out of someone...to try to look like a "man" by putting the kiltie down.

Personally, I've been insulted a lot in my lifetime, kilted or not...probably because I don't look like the kind of guy who can kick your @$$ when insulted (though you'd be amazed...) and often because there was only one of me and a few of them. I've developed a pretty thick skin. I've also had to get out of a couple of nasty situations because one of my buddies would often consume a wee bit more Jack Daniels than he ought to have and started picking fights...his excuse? "That was Jack talking." My response? "Well Jack is gonna get both of us killed some night so tell Jack to shut up." So I know about drunks shooting their mouths off.

Screw it, man...if this is typical for the guy, everybody must know that he's a schmuck. You are the bigger man for maintaining your composure. Part of strapping these things on is dealing with the B.S. that somebody is gonna hand you. Just try saying this little stanza when things like this happen:

Oh, Lord...give me the serenity to accept what cannot be changed, the courage to change what can be changed and the wisdom to find good hiding places for the bodies of all of the #$@*%&!!'s that get in my way while I'm trying to do either.
