I guess my main comment would be "What did the Bride and Groom thinK?", If they were pleased, who gives a rats A$$ what your uncle or anyone else says. When asked the piper question I just smile and say " No, I'm a Minister", and leave it at that.

Take the wisest person on the Planet, give them a drink with ethanol in it, and they'll make stupid decisions. Just the nature of the chemical. I usually endeavor to avoid human beings with ethanol in their blood rather than seek out gatherings of them.

Too bad you can't pick your family, huh? I think you did the right thing with the drunk; you can only be polite so long before you must make your stand.
I recently attended a wedding, kilted, in Klamath Falls and the question of the day was, "Do you play the pipes." My best answer was, "Not if you want to retain your sanity".
On a side note, where on the coast was the wedding? I live in Reedsport and am always looking for a kilt friendly place to visit.

I like Ron avoid places where alcohol is consumed. However weddings do present a problem. Ignore your Uncle it sounds as if he is jealous. Just be yourself and everything is usually OK.

Being a wrestler, I tend to be wearing the kilt most often around a rather...well... boisterous group of men and women. I don't have a problem being kilt checked once I'm wearing my singlet, because, y'know, I'm covered. But every so often as I'm heading back to the locker room I feel a rush and a breeze and have to go into panic mode to avoid exposing the lil' crippler, if you'll pardon the term.

Some of the best knock em down and drag em out fights I have seen have been wedding parties - it just seems to be the right mixture of whatever it takes.

Usually it has been in the pub after the reception is over and the bride, groom and immediate family have left, but the party goes on.

There comes a point after about half an hour or so where someone will say something or laugh at the wrong moment and the place errupts.

Another quarter of an hour and everyone has either left or is sliding into unconsciousness and the place goes quiet but for a few minutes it can be quite lively.

At last year's xmas party I had the same 2 women keep lifting my kilt to the point I asked them if they would stop. "but you must expect it" they said. Now how would it be if I were to lift their skirts? A visit from the Police no doubt, after a slap in the face probably. IF I wear the kilt at this years, I am thinking of announcing "anyone who feels they must have a look, please ALL come forward now." Then I can get on and enjoy the evening without the constant aggro.
